My 2005 LJ has underhood insulation, none of my previous three jeeps had this feature. Is there a purpose for this? Thinking of removing it. I have noticed under hood temps seem way hotter than the jeeps I've owned before, and the hood is definitely a little heavier.

The purpose of underhood insulation is to get wet and dirty so it can add weight and rust your hood prematurely, not to mention an unneccessary extra part to charge you to replace. :)

Yeah remove it so you can hear the powerful roar of that mini-van motor!

LOL mine's the last of the mohicans with the 4.0 inline 6 :D. It's definitely the quietest jeep I've ever owned, I can speak normal volume doing highway speeds. it's got a thick sailcloth top, insulation under the carpet, and under the hood, but I think I'm gonna take down the under hood insulation

And it will give your insurance company a reason to not cover it in an accident.
"You removed the safety insulation, causing the crash".
