It's helpful when we know what kind of Jeep you have.
Is it leaking from where it meets the transmission or someplace else?
You need to clean it really well and look closely to see if there is a crack in the case or exactly where the fluid is coming from.
Also, what color is the fluid? Red is the transfer case, blackish brown is the trans if it's a manual trans. Red if it's automatic.
Pulling the transfer case is pretty easy on most of them. It's a two beer job and a 9/16 socket after you drop the drive shafts.
It doesn't weigh that much, one person can lower it or lift it back in. I've had mine out quite a few times by myself.
