Tax money coming back...new top time for my 97 SE, with full steel doors. I've done a little research on other sites and have narrowed down to these:

Looking at the Bestop stock-type replace-a-top, the Bestop RAT sailcloth, and the trek top. Can't decide if I like the "fastback" look on the trek top, but getting rid of all of the framing appeals to me. I'm also going with a black top, but I don't know what the difference is btwn the Denim and the Diamond.

Don't know much about any of them, other than what is written in the catalogs and on-line vendor sites.

Any recommendations? I'm open to just about any brand or type of top, Pics would be a plus as well.

AND recommendations on which vendor to buy from would help too. I've read about some problems with at least one.

Thanks in advance.

PS. Austin, if this gets rolling, you might consider a sticky for it. Seems like noobs (me) are always asking about tops!

Rampage Frameless is what I would go with. Same as the Trek Top Chris mentions. It's a great and very funtional top. Love mine on the YJ. Plus no need to change top to go safari! Get the sailcloth one IMO.

Denim and diamond are just the texture of the fabric. Demin is the smooth black. The diamond has little embossed diamonds for a texture. I prefer diamond for the bestop tops.

I ended up with a Bestop sailcloth w/tinted windows.
Quiet, looks good, fits perfect. Recommended!!
Got it through Morris-Awesome!

Bestop???

I just installed my second replacement Bestop on my 1992 YJ with soft doors. The last time was 10 years ago. That's about how long they last in Florida. It was pretty well shot with the seems all ripped out.

My new top just installed last week (see photos in gallery) cost twice as much as the first replacement top ($800) and is half the quality. The material is much thinner and flaps in the wind. The clear windows are half the thickness. It looks good but I don't think it will last as long as the first.:(
