I have an 89 YJ currently have a bikini top on it. The rails that hold the front of the top down keep coming off from the wind. I want to know if I were to weld them would that interfere with a soft or hard top being put in place? Any feed back would be helpful Thanks.

Don't weld, just re-drill and put new screws in the new locations.
If you weld it on the track needs to come off for the hard top to fit properly. At least on my '88 I have to remove the rail for the rubber seal to sit properly. The soft top uses the same rails.

And welcome to the site.

soft top question

Thanks for the reply and advice. I think I will go with the soft top if the rails can be used. The rails have at least 5 holes each now so drilling new ones may or may not be an option.

The holes in mine were stripped out when I got it, so I just drilled new holes and used new screws (stainless steel).
