What are you sitting on?
There are many people that have swapped out the stock YJ seats for a seat that is not worn or torn, or even for more comfort.
If you swapped out your seats, post pics and info here please.

The most popular seat swap is the Pontiac Sunfire seats. They are a direct bolt in for the YJ and recline, have a separate headrest so four and five point belts work well with them, and are said to be much more comfortable than the stock YJ seat.

Pics and details are very much appreciated......

Direct bolt in swaps:

  • Sunfire: '95-'03, 2 Door only (4 door seats require some drilling)
  • Cavalier: '95-'03, 2 Door only (4 door seats require some drilling)'03 Cavi Write-up by instg8tor on Jeepforum
  • Sunbird: '99-'01, 2 Door only (4 door seats require some drilling)
  • Olds Acheiva: '96,'97
  • Grand Am: '95-'01
  • Grand Prix: '95-'01 (These WILL NOT direct bolt into a late 70's CJ.)

"98 Cavalier seats.....

This week i will be replacing my stock seats with Corbeau Baja RS up front, and Bestop Trailmax II in back

I chose the Corbeau with black vinyl bolsters and black fabric inserts, and the bestop is black denim sides with the dark grey cloth insert.. I will take a few pics when its all finished.

For reference:

Has anyone ever measured a 3rd row seat out of a SUV to see if they would fit the back seat space on a Wrangler? I like that some are split and fold and they would surely be more comfortable than the stock seat, like I really care cause I never ride back there. Just a thought.

I've seen where somebody put a Ford Ranger 60/40 seat in the front of a YJ, and one person put a split and fold out of something in the rear of a YJ.
I'll see if I can find the pics.
I like the new rear seat. I'd go that way but my roll bar has been customized to have bars come down at an angle and has headrests mounted on it like a Rhino. I have two kids that ride back there.

Seat Swap details

New to the jeep scene, so I'll ask some beginners questions:

1. Can I use the same bolts when installing the cavalier seats or go bigger?
2. My original seat belts should still work?
3. Looking for some used Bestop Supertop front windows if anyone knows someone that is selling any.
R. Anyone familiar with a good engine shop for jeeps in the Tidewater, VA area?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

New to the jeep scene, so I'll ask some beginners questions:

Welcome, We are here to help.

1. Can I use the same bolts when installing the cavalier seats or go bigger?

The holes in the seat brackets line up, but the seat tracks use a threaded stud. It's pretty much a direct bolt in.

2. My original seat belts should still work?

Yes. The seat belts are bolted to the floor and roll bar and are not attached to the seats at all.

3. Looking for some used Bestop Supertop front windows if anyone knows someone that is selling any.

No I don't but I'll keep my eyes open for them.

R. Anyone familiar with a good engine shop for jeeps in the Tidewater, VA area?

No clue.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

You're welcome anytime.

Doc

Why does it hurt when I do this?

So I don't need to remove the stock seat brackets?
No. The slide tracks stay with the seats but the flip forward bracket that is bolted to the floor remains and that is what the Cavalier seats with Cavalier sliders bolt to.
