I pulled the axle on my 2008 jeep wrangler rubicon to replace the bearings and noticed that there was a piece of thin metal that came out too. Looking into the axle shaft, it appears that the rear differential shims are the source. Any suggestions or ideas on how to replace them?

No, warranty left. I drive a lot and the dealership I bouth it from ceased to exist. Since then I have had a significant issue getting a Jeep dealership to honor the drivetrain warranty or any warranty on the vehicle.

You can buy shims from NAPA and alike. Get the specs on line and buy a complete set of shims. Don't mix old with new.
