So I have an 05 TJ and I'm really not happy with the OEM soft top or the soft top in general... Maybe its because of the tremendous road noise and how cold it is all the time I'm not sure...Point of this thread is I want to know what it would take to do the hardtop conversion? I don't know all the details on how to do it so I would like some of your guy's expertise.

Any input is much appreciated

Thanks
Josh

The biggest issue is finding one for sale that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. They range anywhere in my parts from $800-$1200, which is too rich for my blood. Besides the hardtop, you may or may not need the wiring kit and 8 bolts with the flat, square threaded washers.

X2 its pretty simple, you can get aray with just the top and bolts until you find the wiring if you need it( all it's for is the wiper and washer fluid)

Any year TJ top will fit but if I were you I would try to get an 03 and up. The vents change in 03.

The same windshield latches are used for a factory soft top and hard top. The hard top will come with them also.

I sold my hard top 4 years ago for $1000 so you may want to offer some $$ with the trade. The cheapest I have seen them for sale is $800

The only problem with hard tops up here in Wa. is they look like hell after they have been beaten off a couple trees. They are nice for winter jeepin though but once spring hits and the trails open and get slick it's time to take it off. That's why I sold mine. Wanted to get some $$ for it before I trashed it. My soft top has seen better days also and it's about time for a new bikini top since mine is getting trashed. I don't beat the crap outa my rig, the roll cage just rubs trees sometime.

Oh and I'm not sayin don't buy one, they are nice and I have thought about getting another. Im just saying make sure to remove it before the trail season starts up. And maybe look for a beater soft top.

Bring some cash to the swap meet this weekend, ya might find a good deal on one there.

I dont know if I can make it because I sold my fun to a good friend and he hasn't put in his last instalment to pay it off but if he pays me then I'll make it... Even so I won't have enough for a hardtop :(
