I get that "CJ" started as "Civilian Jeep" etc

What are all of the other designations for? Frame? Factory model designations like B-body (Chevy, Dodge) or Fox body (Ford)?

I'm getting used to it, but that first few weeks in Jeepdom was a bitch.

CJ,TJ, JK, JKU, and that's not even counting all of the different military designations on the early jeeps, then the 5-7 in the 70's and 80's.

I'm not even sure what the newer wranglers are.

Justr curious.

TJ = Trashy Junk
YJ = Yippee Jeep
JK = Jeep Krud

The letter designations do not really mean anything other than model type/generation.
The CJ MAY have been named Civilian Jeep but there is no record of that.
This was a really long thread otn another forum and nobody found any corelation between the letters and why Jeep used them.
Kinda' like Infinity Q45 etc....
