I just figured out something yesterday that I thought I would share. my 99 wrangler with a 4.0 in it starts cutting out after hot drives (around 100 degrees). It will start cutting out about 3000 rpm's then it gets worse. Highway speeds seem to do fine but if I run down the high way and then drive 30 for a few miles it starts doing it. So I went and robbed a coil pack and that didn’t fix it. So I am thinking what can it be... I look at my gas gauge and it’s about half a tank and I had an idea. I went to the gas station and filled it up. no more cutting out. Fuel pump is getting hot. n Hope it helps someone.

Vapor lock. Water in the fuel.

Sounds like vapor lock. I had that problem in an old Ford escort and I would be stuck on the side of the road for hours sometimes. Never did figure it out.
