What are your thoughts? Dan did a legal hunt of a mountain lion in Idaho and now he has been asked to resign his position here in CA. Hunting mountain lions is illegal here but that should have nothing to do with what he did.

California Fish and Game Commission Meeting Tomorrow
Your attendance is Needed to Support Commissioner Richards

Tomorrow, the California Fish and Game Commission will be meeting in Riverside. Come voice your support for Commissioner Dan Richards. Let the Fish and Game Commission know that Commissioner Richards did nothing wrong and removing him would be unjust. This meeting will take place at 8:30 am in the San Diego Room at the Mission Inn Hotel and Spa, located at 3649 Mission Inn Avenue in Riverside.

Also, the state Senate and Assembly could act on this issue any day this week. It is important that you call AND e-mail your state Senator and Assembly Member TODAY and strongly urge them to OPPOSE any effort to remove Commissioner Dan Richards. If animal “rights” activists are allowed to succeed, it will have long-term negative consequences for all of California’s hunters and wildlife. Contact information for your state Senator and Assembly Member can be found below.

The extremist organizations such as HSUS started the controversy associated with President Richards engaging in a legal hunt because they saw it as an opportunity to rid the Commission of a life-long hunter who opposes their agenda to ultimately ban all hunting in California and, eventually, America. It was HSUS CEO Wayne Pacelle who said, “We are going to use the ballot box and the democratic process to stop all hunting in the United States ... We will take it species by species until all hunting is stopped in California. Then we will take it state by state.”

The state Senators and Assembly Members demanding Richards’ removal dream of a Commission that is dominated by non-hunters who share the radical philosophy of HSUS and PETA. The truth is that hunters are needed on the Commission in order to benefit conservation and wildlife management. They are the ones who truly understand the wildly successful North American Wildlife Conservation Model and the fact that hunters pay the way for conservation in California and throughout the country. In fact, most fish and game departments across the country get the lion’s share of their funding from sportsmen.

I read about this issue last week. To me it sounds like the Libs and Tree Huggers are pissed off because they found out he wasn't one of them. They've been trying to usurp power in the state government at all levels and they missed one.

BTW, Brown removed the commissioner of the OHV department a month or so ago because she was too "fair" to the OHV community. I freakin hate the government!!!

I don't understand the problem. He is doing something legal, but the bleeding heart liberals are now crying foul!
He shot a bird or the liberals can't tell the difference between fowl and a cougar?

Ba dum bum....

It's all about politics not the law.

I just want to state for the record that i would love to go to Idaho and get me a cat. I would love to do it here where there is supposed to be one cat for every 600 square miles or so but there is more like one every mile due to our law against it. People wonder why they have these animals hunting in their backyards and wandering through neighborhoods. They don't want to be there as much as we don't want them there but when we protect them instead of managing them they will overpopulate and run low of their own food source.

I would have been deeply disappointed if he buckled. Screw them.
