Any one ever tired adding a few pounds to the outside of a tent?

I was talking to a neighbor and he says they are great for it.

I could see carrying them with me to a camp site if I didn't have to spray poison everywhere.

Yes that works. Eucalyptus keeps fleas away too. A line of flour keeps ants away.
There are lots of tricks like that.

That is why people line their closets with cedar, to keep the moths away but I never thought of bringing it camping.

It's also whay people line the perimeter of their property with Eucalytus or Cedar trees.
We have 52 Ecalyptus trees surrounding our ranch and our dogs don't ever have fleas.
Buganvilla plants are good security and look nice too.
I saw a book on using trees and bushes for different uses somewhere.

It always worked good in my hamster cage as I was growing up, but I thought it was mostly for the nice scent.

I have been unable to keep them away. I've tried a few different things.

All a waste of time.

PineSol, Bounce Fabric Softener sheets, ammonia... even moth balls.
Of course you are going to smell strong too.
Cigarette smoke keeps them away too. If you can stand the smell you can burn cigarettes around the perimeter of the site.
Same thing a centronella candle does.
Shade and wind are things gnats don't like.
Gnats love fruit so if you use a cologne or soap that has a strong odor they are attracted to it.
They also love coffee. Put your coffee grounds off to the side of your campsite and they will hang out there.
Google is your friend.
