Have a 94 YJ automatic. I replaced the automatic gear indicator light thinking it was burned out but a 2 new bulbs do not work. All other indicators work fine so I don't think it is a fuse. How else should I troubleshoot this? Picture is of the lead and the light in its holder with the [P R D 2 1] hood removed.

Thanks!

Does it not come on at all when driving? It is not supposed to have power until it hits a certian RPM.

I understood what you meant, but i'm not sure how to diagnose. If your other gauge lights work then i would think a bad ground or broken wire somewhere along the column.

I would try to find a wiring diagram and start chasing wires...

Many manual jeeps do have a shift indicator light, which got me confused. Forget the bulb and test to confirm (with a 12v test light) you have power to the indicator light. IIRC, that light will only activate when your lights are on, so this will give you an idea where to start your wiring troubleshooting.

How did you get the little shroud off? I took out the two screws on either side and it won't come off
I'd appreciate some advise
